Disaster trip to Mauritius
Where do I start? I had bad forebodings before this trip and everything is not going our way exactly.
When we arrived Sara didn't get her luggage, of course Charlie de Goolie baggage handlers went on strike right when we were checking in for the Mauritius flight. There are apparently 20.000 bags stuck in CDG and no news on when they might feel like returning them to their rightful owners...
Of course it rained on our first day here but not to worry! The UK PAYG O2 mobiles don't work when it comes to sending SMS so we are feeling a bit stranded as we can't contact anyone. Especially useful as there is only 1 key to the flat!
Sara then hit her head on a BIIIG sign right in front of her and then I lost my VISA card in the cash machine day 2. It handed the money out first so I took off without collecting my card. Only GBP5 to cancel it.
Day 3 we took off on an excursion to Ile aux Cerfs where I was burnt by a jelly fish and I now have a lovely "tatoo" on my arm, see photo.
Day 4 and mom's birthday my step-dad Karl-Henrik started feeling sick but we all went on another boat trip to Ile Benitiers. It was raining... no snorkeling but lovely BBQ that went off the rails when a big shy guy from Leicester had a local rum too many and turned into a monster and fell in love with anything walking on 2 legs... or not. He had to jump from the boat on the way back to be sick. hmm charming!
Day 5 and Sara's birthday seemed to go without a hitch. We went to a market in Quatre-Bornes where Sara found millions of bargains :) For dinner her friends Stephane and Mariane took us to a gorgeous restaurant in the sugar cane fields where of course they got the orders wrong and I had to wait 20 mins for my dish to arrive after all the others had finished eating! The lobster was delish though!
Day 6 and Karl-Henrik pulls the tap in the bathroom from the wall so he flooded the bathroom and we now have no water, shower or loo. Since we have rented a flat we can't just move to a new room, nor do we have a swimming pool or any facilities outside the flat. My mom and step-dad are off for the day on an excursion while Sara and I went to the beach. Do you think it's raining again? Why do you think I'm in an internet cafe!
There is only Day 7-9 left now. What else is going to happen!?
So far no-one has had an upset stomach, maybe we could try that now that we have no bathroom? Better buy a bottle of the local rum and get pissed!
xx charlie
