Argentinian Tango in Buenos Aires
Hi, in Buenos Aires now!
We had another nice breakfast of excellent coffee con leche and media lunes, Argentine croissants, yummy yummy! Then we jumped on the bus to Buenos Aires as we couldn't clear the border to Uruguay at GualeguaychĂș unfortunately. But it's Sunday and a good day to catch the antiques market in San Telmo in BA and for some tango in the square. Took some photos but will have to wait with uploading them as the computers are a bit old and slow here.
the weather is still fantastic, 26 and sunny and we have excellent sunsets every night. Last night we went to see the Carneval at GualeguaychĂș, a nice organised affair where we could all watch the parade from stands and drink beer and cocktails out of 1l cups. Good thing there were lovely smelly outdoor toilets to use! The theme of the carneval was the zodiac signs we figured out half way through. All the girls were gorgeous but we found the men a bit on the camp side as they also were dressed in head to toe in glittery outfits. We also saw some guys in the audience who obviously were on their stag do as they were dressed in girl carneval outfits and hairy chests haha.
Tonight I'm hoping to get to a real asado or parilla for some nice grilled meat and salad, already had 2 empanadas from a pizzeria down the road. I keep having loads of conversations with friendly Argentinians although I don't really speak many words of Spanish. But it's easy to understand the gist of it a lot of the time so I can keep up with a sĂ or a no! I need to come back here for some Spanish lessons pronto! Maybe next winter? Anyway, better go wake up Dawn who needs more naps than me!
